A Republic that is a slave to experts is tyranny; the representatives must wield power. Bureaucracy as a slow death for freedom
“Long Live the King!” This phrase has been long forgotten amongst our liberal democracy, which of course is actually a republican democracy. Monarchy has passed, long live the Republic. We believe we live in a political system that values the whims and wishes of the people, because after all, we can vote! Nobody is good enough, wise enough, or skilled enough to hold all the power, so we should all split this power amongst ourselves. When considering the virtues of a republic, we should be wise to know its sinful proclivities, lest we decay into tyranny, even more so one that we ask for.

The last of these seems to only be true provided you were born before and then, in the throes of toddlerian agony, died shortly thereafter.
